Introducing YOI 2022!

We are very excited to announce the launch of the second year of our Youth Organizing Institute! After several years of hosting a leadership development program at NYCET, we've been able to build a strong curriculum that engages youth and trains them to become the next generation of movement builders.

This year, YOI looks a little different. New York's primaries were unexpectedly bifurcated, resulting in two primary elections that confused voters and put a strain on many of our partners' capacity. To address this need, we adapted our YOI curriculum, moved up the timeline, and put out a rapid response call for applications.

We are so pleased to present to you our 2022 cohort of 4 incredibly talented and passionate youth! They have just completed training in digital tools and voter outreach, and over the next two months, our Fellows will contact voters about both the August primary and November general elections. In fact, our Fellows have already called and texted over 29,000 voters in just the last week!

“This week, it’s been very rewarding to get to know the other fellows,” said Adriana Flores, a returning Fellow. “I’m excited to start phone and text banking and just informing others of the primaries coming up.”
