Tapping into Our Talents & Storytelling

This week, we focused on storytelling, both as a way for us to creatively express ourselves to each other and as a tool for engaging and informing our communities. Below, YOI Fellow Jobert reflects on the power of storytelling through intentional content creation and its connection to community organizing.

“My name is Jobert Desgraviers. So far, I've enjoyed every single week. It's been extremely fun. I feel like by joining YOI, it was an opportunity for me to understand what it means to be a community organizer and also how to be a better activist.

And from this session, I learned that you can use content to (1) tell a story, and (2) give information, like voting, redistricting, whatever it may be. I can use my talent or my gift, which is, you know, creating content, or editing, or whatever it is, to spread that information and to tell the story.”
