Why We Vote

Why do we vote? “I vote because I want to see better representation in our government,” said YOI Fellow Adriana Flores. Her friends added:

  • “I vote because it is my method of participating in the world and all of its events.”

  • “Because if I don’t, who will?”

  • “I vote in order to make a change in my community.”

  • “I vote because I want to see my community represented fairly.”

This week was all about storytelling and empowering our peers! YOI Fellows were first tasked with developing and giving engaging presentations to each other on why it’s important for youth to be civically engaged. Our Fellows then took elements of their presentations and transformed them into compelling videos to share with their peers.

In these 3 videos created by Adriana, she covers why she and her friends vote, ways to get civically involved, and how to vote in the upcoming general election.
